Set in the heart of Union Square, I discovered ENO, a casual wine bar for those who want to explore new tastes.
When you think about San Francisco, the first image that comes to your mind is the Tech scene or maybe the Golden Gate Bridge.
Yes, it’s all true, but San Francisco is also the city in the USA that reminds me the most of European cities like London or Paris. Little streets with coffee shops, boutiques, restaurants, and of course wine bars. A perfect destination for wine lovers!
ENO attracts a nice crowd of ladies who love wine and come after work with their friends and colleagues to enjoy a glass or a bottle of wine. Chic and comfy atmosphere with a lot of space between tables and sofas.
We visited ENO at 6.00 pm during a week day. It seems to be the busiest time, so expect to wait a little bit before to be seated. We came back during the week-end and the place was less crowded.
We were seated both times at the two-person table next to the fireplace, at the back end of the bar. Definitively the best and most romantic spot!
ENO features a large selection of wine, with 166 bottle starting at less than $50. You can also try 50 wines by the glass, starting at $9.
We tried the “mini tasting” concept, a selection of wines by region and wine type. The tasting flights combine 3 half glasses (generously poured!) of bubbly, white, rose, or red wine, starting at $30.
A little leaflet comes with the glasses to present each wine and explain in which order you should drink them. This format helps the wine neophyte look like a connoisseur and it dedramatizes the “wine tasting ceremony”.
ENO promotes local producers, and we love the eat local concept. It offers various bites like cheese plates, flatbread, and even chocolates truffles, for a perfect pairing with wine.
Definitively a must do if you stop by Union Square in San Francisco next time!
